AM encourages local charities to apply for funding from the Welsh Government to tackle discrimination

Labour AM, Ann Jones is calling on charities and third sector groups in the Vale of Clwyd constituency, to apply for up to £1.6 million of Welsh Government available for projects that tackle inequality and discrimination and help make Wales a fairer place.

The money is available for a range of projects that could cover areas such as addressing hate crime, supporting marginalised groups and helping disabled people live independently.

Mrs Jones said: “I’m proud that the Welsh Labour Government’s values are built upon fairness and equality. Supporting projects that encourage equality and understanding in our communities will be central to delivering the Welsh Government’s Strategic Equality Plan.

“I look forward to seeing suggestions from organisations in my constituency which will make a real difference to people’s lives and help our communities prosper.

“Against a backdrop of a tough economic climate and cuts to the Welsh budget, it is absolutely vital that every penny of public money counts and ensures that this funding delivers on the ground and people see a difference to their lives.”
