AM seeks information on hospital discharges

Vale of Clwyd AM, Ann Jones, has urged any constituents to get in touch with her if they or their relatives have experienced problems being discharged from hospital.

Mrs Jones will be working with the Older People’s Commissioner for Wales to investigate whether older people are routinely being inappropriately discharged. This may include patients being discharged in the middle of the night or being discharged without any regard for whether there is transport available.

Mrs Jones said: “The Older People’s Commissioner has received a number of complaints about inappropriate discharges and I think it’s important we fully explore whether this is a trend across Wales.

“Appropriate discharging is an integral part of patient care. Gathering further evidence may help us fully establish what the picture is.

“I urge any constituent with experiences to get in touch with me so we can prevent this unacceptable practice occurring in the future”.

Any constituents with views are urged to get in touch with Mrs Jones’ office by:
