AM welcomes announcement on new Rhyl Catholic School

The local Assembly Member for Vale of Clwyd, Ann Jones, has welcomed Denbighshire County Council’s announcement that plans for a new Catholic School in Rhyl have been approved for public consultation.

Members of Denbighshire’s Cabinet met on Tuesday to agree the proposals to create the new Catholic School in Rhyl, at a cost of £23.8 million, to replace the existing provision in the town.

The plan has been agreed to by the Diocese of Wrexham and will form part of the Welsh Government’s 21st Century Schools education programme.

Ann Jones AM Said: “This has been a long-standing issues for Rhyl and I am pleased to see that Denbighshire County Council have agreed to go ahead with the next phase in the plans to build this new Catholic School.

The contribution of the late Councillor, Margaret McCarroll, played such a pivotal role in campaigning for this to happen and I am sure this is testament to her and the Faith in Rhyl group for their commitment to providing Catholic education on our area.”
