Ann comments on Welsh Conservatives grammar school policy announcement
Responding to the Tory education policy announcement, Ann said:
“Today’s announcement by the Welsh Tories is totally muddled. This isn’t an innovative bold policy shift, it’s a tired party bereft of ideas trying to hark back to what they perceive as the good old days. There is nothing substantive here, and the policy raises more questions than it answers.
“The Tories need to come clean on whether they are proposing selection at 14 or choice at 14, how exactly this differs from what we are currently doing, and how they plan to fund this alongside the massive 20% budget cuts they’ve proposed for education.
“By seeking to divide children at 14 into academic and vocational routes they risk capping aspirations and labelling children a failure, just as the old 11 plus exam did.”
