Ann Jones hosts Scouts from across Wales at Assembly event
Labour AM for the Vale of Clwyd Ann Jones, has hosted a group of Scouts from right across Wales at an event she sponsored at the National Assembly for Wales.
The event gave the Assembly Member, who is President of the Vale of Clwyd Scouts, the opportunity to hear from a number of young people about how modern Welsh Scouting is contributing to their development.
The exhibition included an interactive display of Welsh activity badges; it also highlighted a number of the awards many young people can work towards, including; Scouts Wales Democracy Challenge, Wales Rights Badge, Welsh Beaver Scout Award and the Welsh Cub Scout Award.
Ann Jones said:
“I know from first-hand experience, both as a mum and as President of the Vale of Clwyd Scouts, that being part of a group like this is hugely important as it gives our children a chance to focus their time and energy in a positive manner as well as learn important life skills.
“Many of the young adults I’ve talked to have said how important it is in helping them avoid anti-social behaviour allowing them to make a positive impact in their communities, preparing them to become active citizens and leaders of the future.”
Jill Gloster, Scouts Wales’ Chief Commissioner said:
“Scouts Wales was delighted to visit the Senedd to demonstrate how the scouting experience is contributing positively to the development of boys, girls and young adults from across the whole of Wales.
“We are grateful to Ann Jones for her continued support on a local level and also in sponsoring events like this which help raise the profile of scouting right across Wales.”
