Health Board must learn lessons from damning review
Labour AM for the Vale of Clwyd, Ann Jones, has called on Betsi Cadwaladr Health Board to quickly learn lessons following a scathing review into its governance arrangements.
Mrs Jones said: “A joint report by the Wales Audit Office and the Health Inspectorate Wales found significant failures by the Health Board and its senior leadership team which can only have had a most damaging effect on the morale of staff, patients and the local communities served by the Board.
“It is clear that Betsi Cadawaladr cannot continue in its present form. The immediate resignation of both the Chairman and Chief Executive must not allow anyone to think that this singular act will redeem the Board.
“I have, and will continue to, raise issues with the Health Minister and the new senior leadership team to ensure that my constituents receive the very best care and attention – which is no less than they deserve.
“I am firm believer that the staff who work tirelessly for our NHS do a magnificient job under difficult circumstances and deserve to know that managers value them. This clearly has not happened in the past and it is one area that I will want to ensure the new senior leadership team will address with urgency”.
