More support for rough sleepers welcomed by AM

Labour AM for the Vale of Clwyd, Ann Jones has warmly welcomed news that the Welsh Government has made an extra £100,000 available to local authorities to provide rough sleepers with extra assistance this winter.

Mrs Jones said: “Winter poses even greater difficulties and hardship for those who sleep rough in our communities. I am pleased to see that the Housing Minister, Carl Sargeant has made this extra money available. It is further evidence that the Welsh Labour Government is committed to helping the most vulnerable in our communities.”

Local authorities can apply for a share of the funding which will enable them to target services and support based on local needs. Local authorities will need to work in partnership with voluntary sector organisations to provide appropriate support for rough sleepers and, where possible, help them resettle into permanent housing.
