The project will also see significant improvements made to disabled access to the station and platforms.

As a regular train user Mrs Jones has previously written to the Minister to make him aware of the problems at the station.

Ann Jones said:

“The decision to invest over £2.5m in Rhyl’s Railway Station is a welcomed one.

“Having campaigned for extra investment in the station for some time I’m really pleased the hard work has paid off.

“Not only will the new look station have new toilets, waiting shelters and a customer information point but the work will also make the station easy access for the many elderly and disabled users who have struggled getting to the platforms.

“Investment like this is key to improving the services we offer both to residents and to tourists who travel to Rhyl from Wales and the wider world.”
