Rhyl’s army careers office closure “will be a great loss to the community.”
Labour AM for the Vale of Clwyd Ann Jones has responded to the news that the Ministry of Defence is to close Rhyl’s Army Careers Office by March 26th.
Commenting on the planned closure, Ann Jones said:
“The armed forces have always played a big role within the community and I am saddened to hear that the office in Rhyl is to close as a result of the UK Government’s cuts to the armed forces and their out-sourcing programme.
“Rhyl’s office is seen by many within the community as being essential, it plays the vital role of offering potential recruits the opportunity to get one-to-one advice about what life is really like in the armed forces.
“As well as this, the office has served as a drop off point for ‘Treats for Troops’ boxes, which act as a lifeline to troops currently deployed on operations.
“The closure will be a great loss to the community.”
