St Asaph ‘one-stop-shop’ open to support small enterprises

Labour AM for the Vale of Clwyd, Ann Jones has revealed that a ‘one-stop-shop’ has been launched in St Asaph to support the sustainable growth of small enterprises.

St Asaph’s branch is part of a Wales wide network of eleven offices which are now up and running, following the Welsh Labour Government’s investment of some £6.5 million in the scheme.

Business Wales’ service includes Business Wales Mentoring, launched last October by the Welsh Labour Government, to provide businesses access to mentoring support from a wide, diverse mix of experienced business people. A £6 million loan fund to support the growth of micro-businesses in Wales was also announced last year in direct response to recommendations contained in the Micro Business Report for Wales.

The new centres are located in Aberystwyth, Bangor, Brecon, Fforestfach in Swansea, Llanelli, Newport, Newtown, Pembroke Dock, St Asaph, Treforest, and Wrexham.

Ann Jones said:

“Local businesses often contact me to ask what help is available to them and where they can access advice and support that is both clear and simple.

“Given that supporting companies to grow sustainably to create jobs and a strong economy is so vitally important, I am sure that the new network of one-stop-shops, one of which is based in St Asaph, will be a lifeline for small businesses right across the community.

“The Welsh Labour Government continues to use all of the levers that it can to help businesses, communities and families get through these tough economic times. We will continue to show that, in contrast to the UK Government’s failed austerity agenda, there is another way.

“The support that is available to enterprises at the Wales wide network of one-stop-shops is in addition to the support already available through our Business Information Helpline and the Business Wales website.”
