Urgent action needed to stop out of control FAW Council
Urgent action is needed to tackle the out of control FAW Council which is damaging Welsh football.
Vale of Clwyd AM and lifelong Rhyl FC supporter, Ann Jones, has called on the FAW council to urgently reconsider how it manages Welsh football in light of the recent decisions regarding Llanelli and Barry Town.
Mrs Jones was Chair of the Assembly Committee that looked into the future of the Welsh Premier League. Many witnesses told the committee that the FAW’s governance had to be overhauled and become relevant to Welsh football.
Commenting on the latest saga, Mrs Jones said: “This latest episode of misgovernance does nothing for the confidence of the fans and clubs that attempt day-in, day-out to have a high standard of domestic Welsh football.
“Some council members are more interested in their next international trip as opposed to promoting and improving Welsh football itself.
“I would urge Jonathan Ford and others to urgently review last week’s debacle. You cannot have council members flagrantly disregarding rules for their own ends. This must stop”.
Mrs Jones recently called on the Minister for Culture and Sport to look into the practices of the FAW Council.
