AM and Minister Visit Rhyl Sixth
Labour AM for the Vale of Clwyd Ann Jones has been joined Jane Hutt, the Welsh Labour Government’s Finance Minister, on a visit to Rhyl Sixth Form.
Jane Hutt was the Education Minister responsible for pressing ahead with the Rhyl Sixth project. The purpose built centre offers students the choice of over 50 options, including AS and A Levels, the Welsh Baccalaureate, BTEC Diplomas and other work-related qualifications.
The pair met with staff and students and were given a tour round the purpose built facilities by the newly appointed Head, Robert Hughes.
Ann Jones said:
“The sixth form, which was delivered under Welsh Labour Government, is a fantastic facility for students and the community more widely.
“The brand new facilities and the additional support available to students are remarkable; with a personal tutor, one-to-one study and advice it’s no wonder the sixth form is seeing some good results.
“Because students can mix and match academic and vocational courses it gives the young adults a real grounding and sets them up well for their future. Going forward, I wish the students and the newly appointed head the very best of luck.”
