AM and MP back Small Business Saturday campaign

Vale of Clwyd AM, Ann Jones and MP, Chris Ruane have joined together to back the nationwide campaign to support local independent traders on Saturday December 7 – designated the UK’s first Small Business Saturday. Small Business Saturday is a day encouraging everyone in the UK to support small businesses, both on the day and beyond.

Mrs Jones said: “There are hundreds of excellent small businesses across our constituency, offering great products and great services and I would urge everyone to make a concerted effort to support these independent businesses starting on Small Business Saturday.

“Small and medium sized businesses are the backbone of the Welsh economy and need support from local people to survive and thrive. Small Business Saturday gives us the opportunity to celebrate these wonderful businesses and gives them a chance to raise their profile and generate business.

“Their on-going success is also essential if we want to have bustling and vibrant centres in our towns and this is especially relevant in Rhyl and Prestatyn. I hope that those who visit local businesses on Saturday see just what a wonderful array of products are on offer and continue to shop locally well into the future”.

The Welsh Labour Government is actively promoting Small Business Saturday through a Social Media campaign, to highlight the importance of shopping locally to support start-up and small businesses, and to raise awareness of support available for small businesses via the Business Wales service.
