Ann Jones AM backs Small Business Saturday
Saturday the 2nd of December is Small Business Saturday and Ann Jones AM is encouraging residents to shop local.
The Assembly member is supporting the annual Small Business Saturday campaign by visiting businesses in the Vale of Clwyd.
Small Business Saturday UK is a grassroots, campaign, which highlights small business success and encourages consumers to ‘shop local’ and support small businesses in their communities. The day itself takes place on the first shopping Saturday in December each year, but the campaign aims to have a lasting impact on small businesses.
Shopping local also makes good economic sense. Research on spending shows that for every £1 spent with a small or medium-sized business 63p stayed in the local economy, compared to 40p with a larger business.
Small Businesses also help build communities and are a lifeline of contact and support for many vulnerable residents.
Ann Jones AM said “Small Business Saturday is a fantastic initiative and I congratulate everyone involved. I am really looking forward to shopping and chatting to the traders in my constituency.
“Small businesses really are at the heart of our community. Shopping local this Christmas and throughout the year helps our local economy by keeping money in our community.”
“The Small business Saturday campaign does so much more than organise this day. There blogs is an invaluable source of information for small businesses, you can read it here https://smallbusinesssaturdayuk.com/blog”
Ann Jones AM is also talking to small businesses in their region about the new Development Bank of Wales (DBW). The Development Bank of Wales was set up by the Welsh Government to support the economy of Wales by making it easier for businesses to get the finance needed to start up, strengthen and grow.
The DBW was launched by the Welsh Labour Government last month and provides focused support for micro, small starts ups and innovative businesses across Wales. This will enable our SMEs to become fitter, bigger and stronger.
Ann Jones AM said: “Market failure to provide finance for small businesses is a real problem that is why the Welsh Labour Government set up the Development Bank and I would encourage businesses in the Vale of Clwyd to find out more”
