Ann Jones AM congratulates local on becoming a ‘Dynamo’ role model

Labour AM for the Vale of Clwyd Ann Jones has revealed that Ray Worsnop, a local businessman and community leader, is to take part in the Welsh Labour Government’s ‘Dynamo’ programme, becoming a role model and mentor to young adults in schools and colleges right across the community.

What does a role model on the programme do?

• Encourage self-belief and positive thinking
• Inspire and motivate students to realise they are in control of their future
• Educate about the reality of being their own boss: highs, lows, risks and rewards
• Draw out entrepreneurial characteristics and encourage students to reflect on their own behaviour
• Encourage entrepreneurial behaviour / thinking in students

Ann Jones said:

“The Welsh Labour Government’s ‘Dynamo’ programme is designed to encourage young people to think in entrepreneurial ways and about instilling confidence and a “can-do” attitude.

“Dynamo role models, just like Ray, are ordinary people who have done extraordinary things, both in the community and in business, by believing in themselves and their ideas.

“I have no doubt that Ray will be a huge asset to the scheme and I hope many of the local schools will get in touch to arrange for a role model to visit them so they can share their story of success in an engaging and inspiring way.”

Ray Worsnop said:

“I recently visited the Welsh Government’s offices in Merthyr Tydfil, whilst there I was asked if I would like to be a part of the Labour Welsh Government’s ‘Dynamo’ Programme.

“This programme involves going into schools and colleges and being a role model or mentor to young adults aged 16 – 24 year olds. I feel very honoured to have been asked to be a part of this inspiring programme and I have gladly accepted the invitation.

“I feel that we all have a duty to actively encourage this country’s young entrepreneurs of the future. Being a businessman and one that is deeply committed to making the community a better place I hope that my contribution can help achieve that goal.”
