Denbighshire’s Announcement on Rhyl High Project

Labour AM for the Vale of Clwyd, Ann Jones has responded to the news that Denbighshire County Council will now move to the ‘detailed design’ stage for the Rhyl High rebuild project.

Ann Jones said:

“Considerable funding has been allocated for the project, under the Welsh Labour Government’s 21st Century Schools scheme, in order that the school’s accommodation can be improved beyond recognition.

“Rhyl High School has come on leaps and bounds over the last few years and their improvement in educational attainment is down to a number of factors, including the strong leadership shown by the head teacher, Claire Armitstead, the passionate teaching team, supportive parents, enthusiastic pupils and committed governors.

“Whilst the quality of teaching at the school continues to go from strength to strength, the ambitious plans to overhaul the school buildings have evolved more gradually. I welcome Denbighshire Cabinet’s decision to move to the ‘detailed design’ stage, and I call on the council to accelerate progress so that a full business case can soon be prepared.”
