Full investigation into Rhyl floods welcomed by local AM

Vale of Clwyd AM, Ann Jones has welcomed a commitment by the Natural Resources Minister, Alun Davies, that a full investigation will be held into the flooding in Rhyl last week. Mrs Jones urged him to ensure that the views she had heard from some residents affected would be taken into account and would be taken seriously.

Speaking in the Senedd, Mrs Jones praised the hard work of all the emergency services who worked tirelessly to evacuate residents from their homes.

Mrs Jones said: “I was pleased to accompany the Minister, Alun Davies around the Garford Road area the day after the flood, and to speak with many of the families who had been affected. The speed with which the Fire Service and other emergency services evacuated families and then, dealt with the standing flood water was remarkable. There are issues that the investigation will have to address especially around the infrastructure and some communication methods need to be clearer.

“However, the way in which Denbighshire County Council and the voluntary services responded was remarkable and a credit to our town and I am extremely grateful for such commitment

“As the clean-up operation continues, I know that all those who worked so hard on the flood day will continue to work diligently to help get residents back on their feet as soon as possible. Chris Ruane and I will do all we can to assist flood hit residents.
