Second Cath Lab for Glan Clwyd
Labour AM for the Vale of Clwyd Ann Jones has welcomed the announcement by the Welsh Labour Government’s Health Minister, Lesley Griffiths, that a second Catheter Laboratory in Ysbyty Glan Clwyd in North Wales will be established.
The funding, which has come from the Welsh Government’s All-Wales Capital Programme, will support the establishment of a second Catheter Laboratory in Ysbyty Glan Clwyd in North Wales, enabling significant cardiac activity to be repatriated to the area.
The Minister’s announcement is part of a wider investment package of £2.49m in services in North Wales’ hospitals. The Welsh Labour Government’s investment will result in a saving of £550,000 per annum.
Responding to the announcement, Ann Jones said:
“This is great news. The considerable investment shows a continued commitment to improving services at Glan Clwyd and across North Wales more widely.”
The Minister, Lesley Griffiths said:
“The development of a second cath lab in Ysbyty Glan Clwyd will mean a more resilient cardiac service.
“It also means patients in North Wales will be able to have a 24/7 service closer to home.”
